Afghanistan batted first and scored 182 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs, Gulbadin Naib played an aggressive batting and played a brilliant innings of 63 runs off 35 balls.
Sadiqullah Atul 29, Rahmanullah Gurbaz stood out with 27 runs. Darvish Rasuli was dismissed for 20, Ibrahim Zadran for 10 and Azmatullah Umarzai for 14 runs, Mohammad Nabi was not out for 10 runs.
Lockie Ferguson took 2 wickets for New Zealand, Matt Henry, Jacob Duffy and Richan Ravindra took one wicket each.
The Kiwi team achieved the target of 183 runs in the 18th over for the loss of 5 wickets. Tim Seifert played a brilliant innings of 65 and Glenn Phillips played a brilliant innings of 42 runs.
Mark Chapman 28, Finn Allen 1 run and Richan Ravindra were out for zero, Daryl Mitchell 25 and captain Mitchell Santner ended the match with 17 runs not out.
