Mumbai (February 8, 2026): In the fifth match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, England has set a target of 185 runs for Nepal to win.
In their opening match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, thanks to half-centuries from Jacob Bethell and captain Harry Brook, England scored 184 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs against Nepal.
In this match being played at the Wankhede Stadium, England did not start well after winning the toss and batting first and opener Phil Salt fell victim to the lion’s share by scoring just one run on the first ball of the second over.
After this, wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler and Jacob Bethell supported the innings by scoring runs quickly, but Nandan Yadav dismissed Buttler for 26 runs, after which England’s score was 43 runs for two in 4.3 overs. The pressure increased when Tom Banton also returned to the pavilion after scoring just two runs off the ball of Sandeep Lamichhane.
In difficult conditions, Jacob Bethell and captain Harry Brook batted responsibly and put on a 71-run partnership. Bethell completed his third T20 International half-century and fell to Deepinder Singh Airey after scoring 55 runs off 35 balls. Sam Curran also could not stay at the wicket for long and became Airey’s second wicket after scoring just two runs.
Captain Harry Brook continued his brilliant batting and completed his sixth T20 International half-century to take the team’s score beyond 150, he scored 53 runs off 32 balls and was dismissed by Nandan Yadav.
At the end of the innings, Will Jacks played an aggressive game and remained unbeaten on 39 runs off 18 balls while Jofra Archer was run out after scoring one run. Deepinder Singh Airi and Nandan Yadav took two wickets each for Nepal.
