Match report: India’s batting

Pakistan captain Farhan Yousuf won the toss and decided to field first, which the Pakistani bowlers proved right in the early overs. Indian openers Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Ayush Mahatre soon returned to the pavilion, due to which the Indian team was under pressure from the beginning.

However, for India, Vedant Trivedi showed responsible batting and supported his team by playing a brilliant innings of 68 runs. The fast batting of Kanishk Chauhan (35 runs) and Khalan Patel (21 runs) in the middle order took India to a defendable total. The entire Indian team was dismissed for 252 runs in 50 overs.

Pakistan’s brilliant bowling

For Pakistan, fast bowler Abdul Subhan was the hero of the match. He bowled devastatingly in the last over and took 3 wickets and restricted India to around 250. Apart from Abdul Subhan, Ali Raza and Mohammad Sayyam also bowled measuredly and did not give the Indian batsmen a chance to play openly.

Semi-final race and difficult target

The situation in Super Six Group 2 has become very interesting. To secure a place in the semi-finals, Pakistan not only has to win this match but also to improve their run rate, they have to achieve this target in 33.3 overs. If Pakistan achieves this target in the allotted overs, they will knock India out of the tournament and qualify for the semi-finals.
